Multi touch
I have researched into Looking at different ways for giving computers commands other than the everyday mouse and keyboard , with online results I have found out about the theory’s and development of touch screen and multi touch.
Touch screens have already made an appearance on the media scene where mobile phones and mp3 players are concerned. Although Jeff Hann of perspective pixel inc has been looking into the frequently asked question would a touch interface work well on a desktop computer or a laptop? He has produced a multi-touch interface with a high resolution which is low in cost, it is a scalable multi touch and pressure sensitive computer screen that may spell the end of point an click. If a screen is large enough four or five people can work at it together rearranging blueprints, say, or editing photos. But they can’t do that if they’re taking turns at a keyboard and mouse.
Multi touch is more advanced than a mouse although does not need any necessary skill to use. As it stands the work and theory’s of Jeff Hann are purely just for research although suggestions of the next Microsoft and apple operating systems will include touch functionality, and he for one believes multi touch can open up a whole new range of interactions.
Multi touch computing isn’t new. Theory’s and creations have been around since the 1980’s with a result of the I-phone and Microsoft’s surface. What makes Jeff Hann’s creation different is that he can empower people to work together in many ways as a team.
Although this seems like an amazing creation will it fit into everyone’s individual needs? this kind of interface seems more energetic could multi touch really replace the sloth-like comfort of a simple mouse click?
